Bic Orange
Bic Orange
Introduced in 1961 as a finer-tipped sibling to the ubiquitous Cristal, the Orange takes the same three-part system — point, spherical ball, proprietary ink — and refines it to a 0.8mm tip built for precise, accurate lines. The hexagonal barrel borrows its shape from the wooden pencil, giving it three natural grip points and structural strength from very little plastic.
A tiny vent hole in the barrel keeps internal and external air pressure equal, letting gravity feed ink evenly to a tungsten carbide ball spinning freely in a brass tip — the same mechanism that's kept the pen essentially unchanged for over sixty years.
