Built around Tomoe River Paper — a famously thin, high-quality paper originally milled by Tomoegawa and now produced by Sanzen as Tomoe River S — the Hobonichi Techo packs over 460 daily pages into a book barely half an inch thick. A day-per-page format with a light 3.7mm grid gives room for scheduling, journaling, or sketching, and daily quotes pulled from Hobonichi's own web magazine appear at the bottom of each page.

Thread-stitch binding, the same technique used in dictionaries, lets the book lie completely flat at any page without needing to hold it open, and despite its thinness the paper resists bleed-through well enough to handle most fountain pens.
